Instant TOFU FRIES
Apple Sweet and Sour Sauce/SPICY Salsa

Spicy Salsa or Apple sweet and sour sauce is good for tofu fries, tofu burgers, soy burgers, and other soy products. Apple sweet and sour sauce brings a fresh flavor and has the aroma of apples. It’s see-through, which you may prefer if you like pure, natural sauce without artificial additives. You can dip fried tofu in the sauce or drizzle it on top. After making tofu, you can fry it for an appetizer or snack. Tofu fries are crunchy, and everyone will enjoy them. If your children like fried food, they may be a good, nutritional alternative to French fries. They have high protein and taste good, just like French fries.

Ingredients
1/3 package of EXTRA-firm tofu 1 egg, beaten Breadcrumbs 3-4 TBS soybean oil or olive oil Apple sweet and sour sauce or spicy salsa
Prepare like this. . .
- After making homemade tofu, cut in 2-in. pieces.
- Coat with egg first and then coat with breadcrumbs.
- Add enough oil to fry the fries (olive oil or soybean oil) on the pan, and preheat the pan on medium heat.
(If you use higher heat, they will burn.) - Fry until they turn light brown. Serve with Spicy Salsa or apple sweet and sour sauce before eating. (The fries don’t have to be deep-fried, but if you want to try deep-frying them, then go for it.)
(Yield: 1-2 servings)
To Top TOFU Fries with Apple Sweet and Sour Sauce and Spicy Salsa
Ingredients
1/2 of a crunchy apple (Gala or Fuji apple) Several sliced carrots, for color A few slices of green pepper A little bit of sliced onion 3 slices of green onion
Sweet and Sour Sauce 1 c. water ¾ c.-1 c. apple cider vinegar 1 c. sugar 2-3 TBS cornstarch plus ½ c. water Salt Pepper
Directions: - Cut apples into slices. Then cut onions, green onions, green peppers, and carrots.
- Mix water, apple cider vinegar and sugar together and boil until the sugar has melted.
- Mix cornstarch with ½ c. water.
- When the ingredients in step 2 start to boil, add the ingredients in step 1.
- Boil all these ingredients together until the vegetables become tender, and gradually add the cornstarch mix while stirring. Don’t pour the cornstarch in all at once; make sure to gradually add it. Otherwise, it will get too thick, which isn’t ideal. (It is important to note that you may not need all of the cornstarch mix.)
- After the sauce comes to a boil again, add salt and pepper. Taste it.
- Serve with tofu fries, tofu burgers, or other soy foods.

Spicy SalsaMany salsa recipes are out there. You may probably have your own recipes. My favorite salsa is SPICY SALSA recipe I made. I hope you enjoy it!
Ingredients: 3 red and 5 green tomatoes (For the green tomatoes, I use unripe green tomatoes. They taste fresh.) 3-4 jalapeño peppers 1 large onion ½ bunch of cilantro Olive oil Pepper Salt Lime juice or Lemon juice
Directions: - Cube both the red and green tomatoes.
- Bake the jalapeno peppers on a cookie sheet with olive oil until slightly brown. (You can also do this on the stove.) Then cut them in small pieces like the tomatoes. Use all the seeds, too.
- Cut onion in half. Cut half of the fresh onion into pieces.
- Bake the other half of the onion in olive oil or cook it on the frying pan. Make sure it’s tender and golden brown. Cut it in pieces.
- Wash the cilantro well and chop it.
- Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl with lime juice or lemon juice. Add some olive oil, pepper, and salt.
- Taste it to make sure your salsa has the right combination of flavors.
- Use the salsa as a garnish for tofu fries or another soy food.
(You can add more tomatoes, baked green peppers or onions if you want.)
